Almost immediately after I finished Version 1 of Mister Domestic Bow Ties for the National Quilt Museum block of the month, I knew that I wanted to make a quilt out of this on repeat. But like there’s a different between a desire to do something and actually having the time to do it. But then I had a lightbulb moment and realized that I could actually machine sew a lot of this block while using english paper piecing for those sections where it’s truly necessary. In this video, I first share how to maneuver around the “bow tie” in this block using a traditional whip stitch. Second, you’ll see how I bring in my sewing machine at those appropriate points for exponential efficiency. Seriously, this one is a game changer.
