Cora Dress with Woven Bodice

When Katie from Simple Life Pattern Company reached out to me to see if I would be interested in making this new Cora dress when she launched it, I jumped at the chance. All of her patterns are amazing and I actually wanted to make a strappy summer dress for my lady, so this was perfect timing.

I was previously scared of printed denim for some reason, but all of the Art Gallery Fabric denims are insane in the membrane in all the good ways. This Painterly Wash print is so crisp and crisp and overall yummy.

At first I had messed around with fabric manipulation for the bodice, but it looked too busy to me, so I opted for a larger basket weave of the print. I had never done that before and was blown away by the fractured look it created with the print.

I had never made a strappy dress before and this pattern perfectly explained it turning this weave into an ooh la la top.

As always when I make Helena clothes, she picked the two straps and one ruffle for the skirt. I must say that my lady has taste because this came out awesome!!

Thanks Katie for trusting me with this pattern because it was so much fun!
